What do you think about that? I love it's warmth and rustic-ness {is that a word?}. Perfect for fall, and down the road, Thanksgiving. How did this only cost me three dollars? I had this old piece of wood sitting in my garage from my Grandad's ranch. My dad thought it was cool looking, so he picked it up and brought it to me to do something with. And this is what I did. So that part was free. And the candles I picked up at the dollar store. The big candle, the tea lights come in a pack, and so do the medium sized candles. One, two, three things. Three dollars.
Now, mind you, candles are definitely one of those things that you "get what you pay for" kind of things. Since these are just dollar store candles, they don't last for a real long time. So I would only burn this during the time you actually are using it for your party, or get together, or Thanksgiving meal. The rest of the time it looks nice and pretty just sitting there.
So take a look around your neighborhood and see what you can find. You never know what might be sitting in someones trash pile {but make sure you clean it!}!
What do you think? Have you made any fun centerpieces or decorations for really cheap?

What a wonderful way to use something non-traditional for a centerpiece. Great idea.

Hi Katie! I totally agree with you about thinking outside the box, especially for something like a centerpiece which really gives us lots of latitude for creativity. It's funny, but my post this week was about a rustic centerpiece too, using a tree branch. Great minds think alike, so I guess that means i will be following ;). Hope you stop over and follow back! (found you on Winthrop)
looks good. at first i thought you drilled into the piece, but now i see how simple you kept it.
